Our Mission
A strong foundation for children and confidence for the families who trust us with their care.
Helping children grow into confident, capable, and well rounded individuals
HCA believes in nurturing your children into well rounded individuals. We encourage them to experience life and appreciate its many rewards. We work to build a strong foundation in their young minds by offering tools and guidance that will help them throughout their lives.
Our Four Guiding Principles
That mission shapes the way we care for children throughout the day. Our approach is grounded in four guiding principles that have always been central to HCA: education, nutrition, a sanitary place to learn and grow, and security. Four pillars that shape the HCA experience for children and families every day.
Education
Helping children explore, communicate, and grow at their own pace
HCA helps children build a strong foundation for the school years ahead through experiences that are appropriate to each child's age, ability, and developmental readiness. Activities support social and emotional development, language and communication, gross and fine motor skills, independence, problem solving, confidence, cooperation, and positive relationships.
Teachers use conversation, reading, singing, movement, hands on activities, and play throughout the day. They introduce experiences, provide guidance, observe each child, and offer additional support when needed. Children are also given opportunities to make choices, try things independently, solve problems, and discover for themselves.
We recognize that children develop at different rates. Progress is based on the individual child, not simply an age or deadline. Early sign language gives young children another way to communicate as spoken language develops, while friendship, sharing, teamwork, respect, and positive social interaction remain part of everyday classroom life.
Nutrition
Thoughtfully prepared meals for growing children
Nutrition is an important part of the HCA day. Our kitchen team prepares food on site and works with families as children move from infant foods to age appropriate table foods. For younger infants, foods are introduced in coordination with parents and pediatric guidance.
HCA provides breakfast, lunch, an afternoon snack, and dinner. Meals include a variety of fruits, vegetables, grains, beans and lentils, pasta, proteins, and other foods selected with young children in mind. We work closely with families when children have allergies, dietary restrictions, or other nutritional needs.
Mealtimes are also opportunities to build independence. As children become ready, they practice using utensils, trying new foods, following routines, and gaining confidence around eating. Dinner near the end of the day also gives families more time together after pickup.
A Sanitary Place to Learn and Grow
Cleanliness is part of how we care for children every day
Young children learn by touching, moving, playing, eating, and exploring their surroundings. HCA maintains cleaning and sanitation routines throughout classrooms, bathrooms, toys, workstations, play areas, kitchens, and dining spaces.
Teachers and staff clean and disinfect throughout the day, and toys that need cleaning are removed from circulation until they are ready to be used again. Additional cleaning takes place after children leave. Children are also introduced to healthy habits such as handwashing and covering coughs and sneezes.
HCA uses additional air and sanitation measures within the centers, including a UV cleaning system that operates while classrooms are unoccupied and UV treatment in appropriate HVAC areas. Children and staff also change into indoor shoes after arrival to help reduce outside dirt throughout classroom spaces.
Safety and Security
Children need to feel safe before they can confidently explore
Safety is a fundamental responsibility at HCA. Staff members maintain CPR and first aid training, and HCA uses clear procedures for the realities of caring for infants and toddlers. Secure building access, authorized pickup procedures, attendance checks, emergency preparation, and careful supervision are part of the school day.
We work directly with families when a child has allergies, medical considerations, dietary restrictions, or other individual needs so the staff caring for them understands those needs. Teachers supervise children throughout classroom activities, meals, rest periods, transitions, and outdoor time.
Enrolled families are also provided private webcam access to their child's classroom. Each family receives its own login information so parents have an additional window into their child's day while access remains limited to enrolled families.
HCA also uses UV treatment in appropriate HVAC areas to support cleaner air circulation throughout the center. This system works alongside our other safety, sanitation, and supervision practices to help maintain a secure and healthy environment for children.
Safety also means creating consistency and emotional security. Familiar routines, attentive teachers, careful transitions, and individual attention help children become comfortable in their environment. Parents should feel confident that the people caring for their children know them, pay attention to them, and take their well being seriously.
A Strong Foundation Starts Here
Early childhood is not a race. Children build confidence by being given opportunities to try, explore, communicate, make mistakes, ask for help, and try again. HCA's goal is to give children a nurturing beginning while giving parents confidence that their child is genuinely cared for throughout the day.
